VIVISECTION - A BARBARIC CUSTOM OF PERFORMING ANIMAL TESTING. LET’S STOP CRUELTY TOWARDS ANIMALS!ARBARIC CUSTOM OF PERFORMING ANIMAL TESTING. LET’S STOP CRUELTY TOWARDS ANIMALS!

27-NOV-2019

The term “vivisection” originates from Latin and literally means “live dissection” – “vivi” and “section”. This word is true to the facts. For many decades, animals have been used for the most cruel and barbaric scientific experiments. The worst thing is that so-called “scientific men” perform surgical operations on living and healthy animals, preventing them from moving and inflicting them terrible suffering.

They say that this is done for the sake of progress, for the benefit of the humankind, for the human health. In no way is it progress, it is sadism and cruelty! No human life is worth suffering of dozens and hundreds of innocent creatures. The truth is that such a barbaric custom can be easily refused through introduction of new research methods. Respecting animals and protecting their rights would be the true progress of the humankind.

Cruel experiments on monkeys

The animals most commonly used in laboratories include guinea pigs, mice, pigs, dogs, and especially monkeys. The latter in particular belong to the species closest to humans on the evolutionary scale, with their feelings, emotions and sensations being the same humans’. Monkeys are intelligent creatures, they are capable of feeling not only physical but mental pain as well; they can suffer and cry.

Poor monkeys are kept in cages, which they can leave only to suffer and anguish from abuse, such as:
• chemical poisoning (through drugs and cosmetic products);
• induction of severe diseases
• circumcision, crippling organ operations, maiming of genitalia
• experimental surgery
• experiments on psyche and brain

Needless to say that all of these are injustice and violence. And all these must be stopped, since monkeys (like other animals) can’t protect themselves. But humans use their technical superiority to torture unfortunate creatures instead of protecting and taking care of them.

Direct evidence

Many people deny that vivisection does really take place and scientific community hides necessity of such experiments for protecting human health. However, many activists find and reveal direct evidence of the horrors taking place in laboratories.

Among the direct witnesses is Michelle Rocque – an activist who spent several weeks working undercover at a research laboratory in the United States in 1996. She published her diaries, telling us about her experience:
“Every monkey in room 958 has wounds ranging from tail fractures to almost torn fingers. These wounds were inflicted by technicians who mistreated them during experiments and operations.”
"A monkey called James was suffering from stress; he was looking at the room’s front door for a long time and kept shaking the cage door in despair; then he looked into my eyes and began to cherish me."

This is terrible! Poor, unfortunate animals!

Regulations and petitions

What can be done to stop it? Fortunately, both the European Community and the United States have recently adopted legislation in attempt to replace or minimize involvement of animals in experiments.
For example, article 7.2 of European Directive 86/609 / EEC states that:
“No animal testing should be performed if there is another scientifically satisfactory method for obtaining the required result, which does not involve animals.”

Alternative testing methods should be applied, such as culturing human cells and tissues or in vitro experiments
But this is not enough, and common people should be the first ones to defend animals, for example, by refusing to use animal-tested medicines and cosmetics or expressing their opinions, informing those who are still not aware of these terrible experiments,  by taking part in animal protecting actions, creating petitions, collecting signatures for law drafts protecting animal rights, boycotting laboratories where animals are tortured.
Let’s work together to make this world a better place!
